Clad in your pepe jeans you walk down a busy street packed with multiplexes and malls in Bangalore .As you just look around you are bound to see something in stark contrast with the suave, urban crowd in the malls. That something might look like “ A being with a dress that is mostly torn ,a leg twisted at an awkward angle ,a hand that is not there, sitting under the scorching heat with a bowl in front of him “ .Alright , you happen to see a person begging for money.I don't call them beggars ,because i see a lot many beggars around ,the only difference is that one guy might be begging for money, while some one else might beg for attention .so you perfunctorily feel sorry for him for few seconds or maybe for a gracious minute(if there is still time for the movie to start ),give him some money and then go watch heyy baby or whatever .have you observed this happen to you .Happens with me more often than not .
Why is that so many people in the world sleep with hungry stomachs? Why does a kid have to beg to earn money? Seems to be a complex question at the outset isn’t it? What can be the solution to this problem? Ya, i know that the governments of the world should do their work and all that .But i want to see some solid progress before I am going to die .So I don’t think it is good idea to let the “government” do all the hard(ly) work .There is one solution though that will give breakthrough results .It is just that people who have enough should start giving a small part of their income to those who don’t. If you are working, just give say 10% of your income to a poor family or an organisation that does work for the poor(be really careful while selecting the organisation). If this happens then I guess the levels of poverty would fall drastically. You don’t have to be too disturbed about the whole poverty issue, don’t have to dramatize it, enjoy your life, party and all that but make giving a part of your life.
