The start to the new year was amazing . I spent it doing the yes!+ advance course in Bangalore ,my 4th one ,but i felt so very different this time around. The knowledge has finally insinuated into my mind. There were close to 30 students from bits , pilani and goa put together. We guys had a 45 min meeting with bau :)and it was great fun.I have been attending classes this sem ,well atleast a few of them .Some of the faculty members are pretty good this sem like ranjan dey or amalin prince.
I have been reading "Shantaram" and this activity keeps me occupied in the evening. But i have;nt read any book which can match the sheer brilliance of "A Suitable Boy " written Vikram Seth. The booker prize winner "The white tiger" also falls short in comparison as far the eloquence in writing is concerned with .Do read the book .You will love it and Vikram Seth himself says"pick the book up before your you sprain your fingers and good sense prevails"

Nothing has remained of the past
blurred into emptiness so fast
neither joy nor grief did last.

"Aasangoham",one of the most beautiful words i have ever heard in Sanskrit.Has an amazing ring to it .The meaning is even more striking. It means"I cannot be touched ",events may come and go in life ,judgements may rise and fall, yet i cannot be touched .Through sorrow and happiness i cannot be touched.Through sickness and health i cannot be touched .
So whenever you feel overwhelmed by events suurounding your life.Just remember -
Aasangoham!

MOON

The journey, long and tiring
the moon gives me company
the milky white light gives comfort to my tired eyes

In the occasional village that passes by my way

i see a young kid's juvenile play

having found an justifiable excuse
my mind slips into the whirlpool of past memories
it dwells on my childhood elliptical way's -
running races in scorching heat,
cricket on the terrace,

paper boats left down the water drain
and the teacher's long cane
they were all not in vain
-

i am brought back from my reverie

by the screeching sound of the brake
it is now i realize the extent of my back's ache

i get down and
test my teeth to a half-baked hard cake-
brought from cafe rahmath-
all the years of brushing the molars has paid

the moon's cool rays give solace to
my bodily aches
the engine roars back to life
the journey is still long
i get on to resume my rendezvous, with my muse,
the moon

we are close today,

separated only by a
translucent tinted glass pane
and infinite space.

Sit, drink your coffee here; your work can wait awhile.
You're twenty-six, and still have some life ahead.
No need for wit; just talk vacuities, and I'll
Reciprocate in kind, or laugh at you instead.

The world is too opaque, distressing and profound.
This twenty minutes' rendezvous will make my day:
To sit here in the sun, with grackles all around,
Staring with beady eyes, and you two feet away.

A dose of my juvenilia

I walk on the road
head bent down,
drenched in sunlight
and lost in a reverie,
buffeted by the wind,
an eeriness fills in,
exasperated by sensibilities,
i long for vacuity,
some idle talk will do me good,
i walk slow,
to give company to my trialing shadow.
