I was coming in an auto after having purchased some books.I had to get my eye-sight checked and my specs made.It had been 4 months since i visited hyderabad.I had been used to peaceful life in the campus and all the pollution in hyderabad was too much to bear. The auto driver took a short cut.I and the driver had decided on a price as his meter was not working. Now i realised my folly because the driver would now take me through claustrophobic streets to save his petrol. The driver had to display his adroitness in maneuvering his auto without colliding with any vehicle.I would not help but notice the bustling life in that small, crowded street.vehicle horns ,vendors shouting, people bargaining, dogs barking and so many other sounds merged together and needless to say the result was cacophonous.i put my ipod on and eerily saw the auto driver drive like a juggernaut.i knew there was no point in me telling him to slow down.i tried to concentrate on the song playing and acted as if i was nonchalant .Finally after half and hour i reached the destination. The first thing i did after getting down was to thank god for the safe trip.I have started learning how to drive just to feel more safe when i am travelling.

This might as well as be taken as a case study for the topic "Height of stupidity".
I was working on my laptop and listening to songs on my ipod.A song with heavy guitar-ing was playing and the volume was uncomfortably high.It was a cacophony!I had to reduce the volume and i had to do it urgently. But nothing seemed to happen .The sound was getting unbearable and i removed the ear-plugs and felt a little stupid, "cant i operate a ipod properly?".It was then i realized that i was pressing the "reduce volume" touch pad on my laptop which was not playing music!.Now i had touched the heights of stupidity .
can you think of anything you have done that is more stupid ?

I now have two and half months of free time .What a luxury!I was reading a book called"The curious incident of the dog in the night-time" by Mark haddon,i came across a problem called the monty hall problem in this book.Have a look at the problem below-
The Monty Hall problem is a puzzle involving probability loosely based on the American game show Let's Make a Deal. The name comes from the show's host, Monty Hall. The problem is also called the Monty Hall paradox; it is a veridical paradox in the sense that the solution is counterintuitive.A well-known statement of the problem was published in Parade magazine:Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?
If you think it wouldnt make any difference because the probability of the car being in anyone one of the two unopened gates is the same, think again because that would be wrong. This is one classic example where intuition fails and logic gives the right answer.so which is more powerful -logic or intuition?well ,i think it depends on the situation.I will tell you how i use a combination of logic and intuition in my chemistry exam (if the paper is objective type).1)I read the question twice 2)then i intuitively guess the answer.Since "I" think this is the right answer, i for sure know that it will NOT be the right answer. So now i have to choose between 3 options3)among the these 3 options i select that answer that i think is right ,i mean intuitively right. So now i can rule out this option too.Now i am left with 2 options4)repeat the process once more .thus, the correct answer is obtained!
nOw here is a question -what used one use more in life ?logic or intuition?

12 more hours ..

12 more hours to go and i would have completed my first year in bits.Overall it has been a good experience .Really looking forward to the holidays .This vacation will for sure be very exciting.

by the way maya's bday is on 14th may.so i am getting ready to give him bitsian style bumps. The interesting part is i have decided to give him a sore butt by kicking him with his heavy woodland boots!

i will be giving my comprehensive exam on linear algebra ,complex analysis and its applications(to put it simply -maths) in 2 days time.so what am i doing blogging now?well i was studying till late in the night yesterday(i am a one day batsmen),so obviously i was feeling a little dizzy and decided to read some blogs. Then i came across the blog written by dinesh and khrushed (bawa).Just for info dinesh and bawa are ART OF LIVING teachers apart from being IIT-B grads and core members of WAYE (world alliance for youth empowerment)and many other things. They are simply amazing!I was blessed enough to do my AOL courses with them. i will just post two questions that were asked to bawa and his answers.

Q. I want to know how to identify my life/future between a lot of choices.. whats the purpose.. of my life!

A.Purpose of life is to Give!
Rest you figure out :)

Q.Is it really possible that one can perform exceedingly well in his work which he has been doing for most part of his life but has been only a mediocre. I know some people do miraculous after a realization. But I don't know of any example where an average guy does something extraordinary in his field of work. Is their a limit for these things. How do I know if its my limit. How to transcend a limit.

A.Yes, its very possible, and like you mentioned it happens pretty frequently. A limit is something you have decided. If you want to transcend a limit all you have to do is decide a new one ☺. Its completely in your hands. The guiding principle here is that ignorance of your capability will expand you. The only thing you need to know is that you don’t know what you are capable of doing! And that’s it!

chemistry blues

chemistry has always been a mystery to me. i have always found the subject very boring . i mean why the hell should i know that white phosphorous is used to make rat killers!i discussed my difficulty with one of my friends who was doing very well in chemistry,he replied very sharly "dude you dont have the attitude needed for learning chemistry".i just looked at him and asked"you mean aptitude ?" , "no,no you should have attitude only ra for chemistry you should not use your aptitude"I had to put his advice to practice the next sem but then i just realized that i wont have to do chemistry next sem .Chemistry ,however did teach me one thing - innovation .how is that ?consider this for example -one day before the chemistry test1 exam i was reading with my friend maya(male):)i was having trouble byhearting the electrochemical series which goes something like this-
I,Br,s,cl,No3,F,OH,Etoh,oxolate,H2O,EDTA,NH3 AND PYRIDINE,ETHYLENE DIAMMINE,DIPYRIDYL,O-PHENANTHROLINE,NO2,CN,CO.(in ascendin order).(some of the compounds are negative ions but i had skip that detail here)
I sincerely shared my problem with him.He then went deep into contemplation and came out with a brilliant solution-i bro school no luck oh Etoh ox idiot. I had to emit some words from the original line due obvious reasons :)but with the help of the above line i can now remember the electrochemical series!innovative indeed!
consider another example-
spin motion of electrons causes paramagnetism ,orbital motion of electrons causes diamagnestism .I then came up with this idea -SP subramanyam.S for spin and P for paramagnetism.
Anyway this is my personal opinion about chemistry.no offence intended.!
